Genevieve Von Black is an improviser on electric piano and synthesiser, based on Gadigal-Wangal land/Sydney, Australia. Genevieve’s improvisations combine her love of prog rock, jazz, heavy metal, and classical music, historical research and literature. Her debut album, Ghosts Are Speaking, is a suite of improvised works weaving the history of her DNA from a remote Cornish coast to Lisdillon on the remote east coast of Lutruwita/Tasmania, recorded in a stormy week isolated in a cottage there. The album launch at PACT Theatre, Gadigal-Wangal, sold out and featured Genevieve with an multidisciplinary ensemble with improvised dance, effected trumpet, and projectionist. Genevieve is on the Blunderbuss Record Co label as a soloist; with Helvetica Noise – an art band with spoken word; and with Delays Have Dangerous Ends – an improvising heavy dark drone/ambient duo.
