There was an iron rabbit trap ‘decorating’ the cottage I stayed in that week where I was creating this project. Rabbit traps weren’t used in Australia until the 1880s, when large numbers of rabbits were imported here.

Almost all the detritus of the past I found on the property was not from the period when my ancestors came to that place, the 1850s.

But a cottage (Rose Cottage) built for the incomers was still there, and the landscape and wildness was there. These elements became a focal point for channeling the ghosts of my past into my present – then the oncoming storms took all those thoughts and emotions and crafted a whole other interpretation.
