Their Acts Being Seven Ages – Genevieve attacks the piano

You know that sensation when ‘all the world’s a stage’, where you can end up being both a mute observer and concurrently playing out your ‘parts’ (infant, schoolkid, randy lover, fighter/angry one, then a bit more respectable, then the shrinking be-spectacled one, then we’re sans everything – well according to Shakespeare with his ‘seven ages of man’ idea anyway) -> that sense of trying to hang onto your story and yet seeing it all unfold and trying to shape it on the run all happened as we improvised this piece. Hence its title.

Acknowledging that ‘seven ages’ idea, this piece messes with a 7/4 time signature and, like a lot of our work, gets quite meditative/hypnotic. Think The Necks and Keith Jarrett’s Köln concert. Their Acts Being Seven Ages is the 4th release of a set of 9.
