The 3rd Delays Have Dangerous Ends track, As If We Were Destined To Live Forever (Don’t Behave) came out on 13 September 2024.

That title is a quote by one of the poster-humans for Stoicism, Marcus Aurelius. He wrote, “Don’t behave as if you were destined to live forever. What’s fated hangs over you. As long as you live and while you can, become good now”. Pretty powerful stuff.

What I like about this track is that Matthew Syres’ guitar crashes and low rumbles sound like a big dark creature is slowly coming alive in an inhospitable place. Near the end of the 4th minute, I introduce a swirling ambient vocal tone that makes me think the creature is gaining self-awareness. You can hear the entity thinking and dreaming and becoming something. But life is short, especially within a 12m 48s piece, and towards the end you can imagine the creature is unravelling and returning to the elements from which it emerged.
